Hello to all of the electronic membership. Not a lot of good news in this issue of the newsletter, but it is all important.
It certainly has been a tough 2 years for our Branch. Being closed, then reopened, and now closed again from January 3rd to the end of the month by our Provincial Government COVID-19 mandate. We can only hope that the mandate will be lifted so as we can reopen again. That is if the number of COVID cases drops and the Government feels good about lifting the mandate. Cross our fingers.
Comrade Vic Nash has stepped down as our go to person for hall rentals and bookings. Our Branch is now looking for another person to take over that position.
Our new water softener and iron filter were installed on Friday, January 14th by Steve Rosenburg Custom Plumbing from Sauble beach. But the ultra violet system is still acting up, and maybe needs to be addressed in the future.
In the Youth Education part of our Legion activities, the Public Speaking part has been cancelled for the rest of 2022.
Ontario Hydro, once again has asked to rent some land from us, and we said yes. So they moved 3 trailers in on or around week before Christmas.
Comrade Lenard Thibeault has passed away at the Owen Sound Hospital on Sunday, January 16th, 2022.
Comrade Diana Acton passed away on Monday November 15th, 2021.
Comrade Helen Shallcross passed away at the Owen Sound Hospital on Thursday, December 30th, 2021.
Comrades Len and Helen and Diana were very good members who gave a lot of their time to promote the Branch and keep it going forward. Len did a lot to keep the Branch clean and looked after most of the maintenance issues. Helen did the newsletter for years, did it all on a typewriter, and even won Provincial Command awards for her newsletter. Diana was on the Ladies Auxiliary, and worked to help the ladies at functions for the Branch.
We extend our sympathies to the families at this time.
Lest we Forget, Lest we Forget.
Yours In Comradeship:
Allyn Johnston
